Kitchen Trends for 2024

Kitchen Trends for 2024

Are you planning a kitchen renovation?

If you’re knee deep in planning your dream kitchen and your ‘saved images’ are a bit of a mix, no worries! We’ve researched the hottest kitchen trends for 2024.

Start by clearing out what you don’t really need and focus on the non-negotiable ideas. Consider what’s a passing trend versus what’s timeless. Most importantly, what aligns with your style, home and lifestyle.

In this article, we explore lasting trends that extend beyond 2024, covering design, aesthetics and functionality. Planning your ideal kitchen requires a clear vision and our team of experienced kitchen designers are here to guide you every step of the way.

To make those tough decisions easier, we’ve highlighted four key trends that look set to steal the show in the coming years.

The buzz is all about…

1. Innovative Storage Solutions

Who loves clever storage ideas?

Possibly a trend that will never fade, and for very good reason. There is a definite shift towards functionality over aesthetic and that means incorporating quality components.

Accessories like multiple pull-out bins for additional recycling, compost that councils are now implementing. Hidden storage cabinetry that hides small appliances to keep benchtops clutter free. Pantries and organisation systems are on everyone’s wishlist.

Including clever storage in your kitchen design will maximise space and efficiency.

2. Bold Colours and Contrasts

What colours and finishes can we expect to see in 2024?

While neutral colours have been popular, there has been a growing interest in bolder colours for kitchen cabinetry. 2024 will be all about colour. We can expect to see striking contrasts like green, navy and charcoal cabinetry with white benches and gold or bronze accents.

Some of our recent kitchen renovations have embraced this current trend, like the impressive country retreat in Merrijig, or the classic darker shades in Beaumaris Kitchen Renovation.

Green continues to grow on consumers and designers alike! It’s predicted to be the top choice in 2024, from calming sage green to power-packed emerald. It’s easy to incorporate green into your kitchen colour scheme, as you can see from our beautiful Wantirna Kitchen Renovation.

While burnt orange or Moroccan colours may seem to be on trend now, we can all remember the 70’s kitchen style of orange and mission brown. Like those times the trend won’t last forever!

We foresee the timeless appeal of an all-white kitchen continuing. The two tone style – mostly white, but paired with warm wood look cabinetry or another tone will remain popular. Particularly for investment properties and smaller spaces.

Keeping on trend in 2024 is simple with the addition of timber accents and streamlined designs.

3. Natural Warmth

Everyone wants to know how to bring a sense of warmth into their kitchen. Forget the white-wash timber, 2024 is all about warmer timber, natural textures and gold or brass hardware. For a more organic vibe, take your cues from nature and be inspired by the outdoors. This look is easily achieved on a budget by making smart choices with cost effective finishes.

It’s easy to add warmth with laminate benchtops. These continue to win hearts, and with a great range of trending colours and finishes it makes a lot of sense.

The modern timber finish laminates are inspiring, not just for the realistic finish, but the low cost and hard-wearing capabilities. It’s been a popular choice in both laundries and kitchens recently, like our Ferntree Gully Renovation.

4. Community Kitchen

The popularity of a multi-purpose space will be bigger than ever. We are all striving for a more stress-free lifestyle, and this is going to flow on to our homes, in particular, the kitchen!

The island bench will become more ‘conversational’ and less like a bar. So consider adding seating to two sides to create something more like a dining table, it’s a simple way to make everyone feel more included.

The layouts and designs will be more stream-lined and minimalist. So clear that dust-collecting clutter, or add more storage!

We’ll see the continued popularity of large pantries, floor to ceiling cabinetry, easy to clean surfaces, and grout-free floors. These trending features will cut-down on cleaning and up-keep and allow more ‘you time’ – now that’s real progress!
