This will make you sit up from your afternoon siesta…
Our latest Kitchen Renovation Oak Park is certainly a showstopper, all dressed up in French Navy and crisp white.
It’s hard to believe this is the result of a clever DIY renovation with a modest budget, however, great design and smart choices can create amazing kitchens and laundries.
Kitchen Shack has plenty of options, with designs based on current trend forecasts, and affordable materials.
How do you create a timeless look?
Less is more. A mantra worth repeating when in doubt… and it applies to the current trend of two-tone kitchens.
The young couple, from Oak Park, worked closely with our Kitchen Shack Preston designer, Mary, who comes with a wealth of experience and kitchen knowledge.
They chose a classic look with French Navy Shaker style cabinetry, stone benches in YDL Shadow Grey, classic white subway tiled splash back, and white overheads to lighten the space. The brass accents on the handles and light fittings are the perfect addition, like the buttons on a military uniform.
This kitchen has an air of order and practicality, with clean lines and defined edges.
How will I know which layout is best for our home?
Every kitchen renovation starts with a problem that needs a solution.
Kitchen Shack designers will often ask our clients, “what works and what doesn’t in your existing kitchen?”
This is the starting point of your personalised design process, until we have reached the best outcome within your budget.
The layout will depend on the existing space, how the kitchen is used by your family, and any specific needs.
We are definitely seeing a move to more family-friendly designs, as families spent more time at home, working, entertaining, creating and relaxing.
More than ever we are seeing the island bench become an integral part of the home, as the centre point for most gatherings.
Planning the Oak Park renovation.
The Oak Park Kitchen & Laundry Renovation was a success due to the in-depth planning process.
Kitchen Shack designer, Mary, was a great support and wealth of knowledge for our clients. She listened carefully to what they needed, and how they lived as a family.
After deciding on the Navy Shaker style for a classic look, they then worked on a layout that would improve the flow between work spaces.
A large pantry was added next to the fridge, the sink has a good view of kids playing in the garden, and the island bench is a clear space for serving meals and doing homework.
The crisp Navy & White theme of the kitchen was also carried through to the downstairs powder room.
The laundry/mudroom is an all-white affair, a space cleverly designed for kids to dump bags and soggy sports clothes when they come home.
They chose Metro white vinyl cabinets for durability, and ample bench space in Duropal Myriade white laminate, with a lowered section acting as a seat for small children.
