When disaster strikes how do you respond?
Every client needs a solution to their problem, and this one was huge!
An electrical fire was triggered due to an incorrect electrical connection made during the initial home build.
The fire started in the rangehood and burnt out half the kitchen, which then triggered an overhead pipe to burst, adding water damage to the disaster.
The young family of four were faced with the challenge of replacing the damaged kitchen, and as quickly as possible so they could get back to their busy lives and not have to face the constant reminder.
They contacted their builder, who recommended they get in touch with Poliform, as they built the original kitchen, and they were hoping the damaged areas could easily be replaced. Unfortunately, they hit a dead end and had to find a new solution.
After researching kitchen renovations in Melbourne, they contacted Kinsman and Kitchen Shack.
Taking the first steps in a new kitchen renovation
They booked their Design & Quote appointment at the Kitchen Shack Maribyrnong showroom, and after meeting with their designer San, they instantly connected with him.
The young couple were blown away with the designs San presented to them, and it was clear he understood both the urgency of the situation, and their specific brief. In this situation a quick turnaround was imperative, but they did not want to compromise on quality and design.
It was obvious to them that working with San throughout the process would get them up and running sooner, rather than dealing with multiple parties.
Sans’ new kitchen design was seriously impressive, with all the ‘must have’ items the couple were hoping to incorporate, like:
✏️Butler’s Pantry
✏️Large Island Bench
✏️Wine Rack
✏️Functional Workflow
✏️Deep Drawers
✏️Designated Workspaces
Having confidence in your kitchen designer
The couple found working with San was an absolute joy. To see their new kitchen come to life gave them a sense of confidence, and certainly put the anxiety to rest after such a dramatic event.
He listened to all their needs, and how they envisioned their new kitchen working for their family. With two young children, and plenty of friends and family, they were keen to incorporate a large island bench as a central focus.
It’s large enough to seat 4-5 people, and also prepare meals whilst you’re chatting with friends.
The kitchen flows seamlessly into a large butler’s pantry at one end, where small appliances are tucked out of sight, and pantry essentials are stacked and organised. Let’s face it, a pantry like this one is on most people’s list! At the other end of the kitchen, San has cleverly incorporated a little wine bar, with backlit overhead cabinets, and built in wine racks.
This entertainer’s kitchen in Tarneit is now complete!
Design Sorted … what next?
Once they were set on the design and the classic colour palette, of grey and white, they ordered their kitchen and booked the recommended installer.
They love their choice of Pewter grey Shaker cabinets and the YDL Stone Rosemee benchtops. To compliment the elegant style, they decided on a marble-look tile from Beaumont Tiles, for the splash back. The flooring was also replaced after the installation, as it too was damaged by the water.
In the midst of trade shortages they realised it pays to know your neighbours! They found their tiler right next door! He did a sensational job laying the tiles in a unique herringbone pattern, adding texture and interest to the space.
The clients were super impressed with the stonemason and his attention to detail making all the difference. He has skilfully matched the vein in the stone to conceal the join in the large island bench – hats off to perfectionism!
The over-all style is sophisticated and timeless, achieved with:
✏️Pewter Satin Shaker cabinets
✏️Beaumont Tiles herringbone pattern splash back
✏️Beacon Lighting black pendants
✏️Black Mango barstools
Enjoying life in the dream kitchen
With the new kitchen complete the young family can now enjoy all the little details that make it so special.
The kitchen blends perfectly with the rest of the house, with the addition of clever lighting and furnishings.
The black pendants over the island bench work well with the adjacent dining and living spaces. The Black Mango barstools were selected for comfort and style, matching the oak dining setting, and encouraging guests to settle in for a while!
With a large island bench and plenty of workspace, entertaining is a breeze, and a regular occurrence.
The kitchen now has much better functionality and flow, with something for everyone in the family.
Hubbie gets a big win too. His clever cocktail and wine bar is an addition he will forever be grateful for, especially after a busy week of work.
Tucked neatly around the corner it has the perfect amount of bench space for mixing drinks, with an overhead wine rack, backlit drinks cabinet, and storage for glassware below. Yep, just add that to your kitchen wish list!
Sometimes it’s the little things that give you the big wins.
Our couple were totally impressed with San and Kitchen Shack. Their attention to detail and quality were key and the urgency to complete the job was much appreciated. They now recommend them to all their family and friends.
