After purchasing an older home in Forest Hill, the homeowners decided to take a different approach. With experience in new home construction, they recognised the potential to start fresh – choosing to knock down the existing property and build a brand new home in it’s place. With a completely blank canvas, every element could be designed with intention from the ground up.
Having previously worked on two different projects with Kitchen Shack they returned with confidence for this project. The Kitchen Shack Forest Hill team were engaged to design the kitchen, butler’s pantry and laundry to provide a cohesive look throughout the home.
The brief was simple: create spaces that feel high end while remaining budget conscious resulting in a design that delivers both style and functionality.
Carrington cabinetry creates a timeless feel
Working with designer San at Kitchen Shack Forest Hill, elegant Carrington White satin was chosen for cabinetry in their new kitchen, butler’s pantry and laundry.
As a contrast, they featured the Carrington Pewter satin for the under bench storage cabinetry for the kitchen Island. The choice of Kitchen Shack’s beautiful Carrington satin cabinetry creates a timeless and classic feel to the entire space and works beautifully with the style of the home. It provides a sense of luxury and simplicity.

Further designing the Carrington cabinetry in the kitchen, laundry and Butler’s pantry, enabled a visual flow and a cohesive feel throughout the spaces. It highlights a cleverly planned design and creates a harmonious feeling throughout.
Storage that works for the family
Designed by San, this galley kitchen makes the most of the space with a thoughtful mix of storage solutions knowing how the clients cook and entertain.
A bi-fold door pantry keeps everyday essentials easily accessible yet neatly tucked away, complemented by a full height pantry and a combination of under bench cabinets and drawers for added functionality.

Appliance nooks and open shelving were also incorporated to strike a balance between storage and displaying much loved and commonly used items to add that personal touch.
Functionality is key so designing under bench bins allowing food scraps and recyclables to be conveniently disposed of and kept out-of-sight. Appliance nooks and open shelving also gave the owners room to display much loved and commonly used items.
Butlers Pantry for everyday living
With generous floor space to work with in this new build, the homeowners were able to design a butler’s pantry tucked behind the main kitchen. This separate zone features Excel Urban Oak cabinetry for overhead cabinetry and open shelving, creating a modern, warm textured feel that contrasted with the Carrington white satin cabinetry. All at an extremely affordable price.
The Butler’s Pantry provided a practice additional workzone. It offers additional room for food preparation as well as heaps of extra storage. This means that the main kitchen is perfect for entertaining and the day to day clutter is out of sight.

More value where it matters
By working with Kitchen Shack Forest Hill, the renovation delivered on both design and functionality without going over the budget. The savings on cabinetry allowed for spending in other areas within the home.
A unique Herringbone timber flooring was selected to seamlessly connect the kitchen, butler’s pantry and other living spaces adding warmth and texture. Combined with a custom stone benchtops and splashbacks the result is a luxury look throughout.

Practical Laundry Design with hidden chute
Again, with the expansive floor space, designer San created a functional laundry designed for everyday ease. The layout includes generous bench space, two under bench washing machines plus a dryer which is ideal for busy households. Overhead Carrington white cabinetry and tall cabinetry units provide loads of storage for larger items like mops, brooms and laundry essentials.
Clever attention to detail can be seen in the inclusion of a integrated laundry chute connecting the upper level directly to the laundry below. Built into the wall, it is super easy for dirty clothes and towels to be dropped straight down, saving time and effort whilst keeping dirty clothes off the bedroom floor. Additions like this detail were made possible thanks to the cost savings achieved with Kitchen Shack.
