Lovely homeowner Will purchased his Ascot Vale unit in 2022.

After years considering what would look best he decided it was time to turn the old, dated white kitchen into something special.

He wanted a new kitchen that would look great but also keep to the existing footprint, to keep costs to a minimum.

Before Kitchen Renovation

Careful selection of cabinetry and benchtops

In collaboration with Designer Hannah, Will knew as soon as he saw Kitchen Shack’s Platinum Inspire Winter Sky cabinetry that was perfect for his unit. Adding the YDL Shadow Grey stone benchtops enhanced the overall look.

The luxurious feel of the new cabinetry and benchtop gives the older style Ascot Vale Renovation kitchen space a stunning contemporary look, and in doing so has completely transformed the old, tired original kitchen.

Retaining the original kitchen’s footprint

Will’s original kitchen was a U-shape that is very common in units of this era.

Designer Hannah from Kitchen Shack Maribyrnong was able to retain the original footprint to reduce costs and with clever design included a pantry, microwave cabinet and loads of storage options.

This renovation has turned Will’s once tight kitchen into a stunning, visually appealing and highly functional space.

After Kitchen Renovation

Location of Appliances

By re-configuring the location of the oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher and by adding in a new tall pantry unit together with under bench drawers and cabinets, has greatly improved the functionality of the kitchen.

In the new Ascot Vale Renovation the oven has been designed under the bench which has created more bench space and hence more food preparation area when family and friends pop around. The microwave was cleverly incorporated in an overhead kitchen cabinet space for easy accessibility and not even noticed.

In order to maximise the natural window light, the sink position is perfect beneath the window and the additional dishwasher under the bench is easy to pop the dishes in once rinsed in the sink.

The new location of these appliances greatly improved the functional layout of the kitchen. Ultimately, the new positioning of appliances within the U-shaped kitchen enhanced all work areas, creating easy reach and maximising storage areas.

Under Bench Storage

By adding cabinetry and drawers under bench, more area is provided for storage of crockery and other heavily used kitchen items. It ensures that every inch of space is maximised within the kitchen.

With limited floor space, Hannah’s design incorporated a new tall pantry unit, something Will loves along with the drawers beneath. Not only did this provide additional storage but it did so without encroaching on valuable floor space. By designing in a number of under bench drawers and cabinets, there is now more generous storage but also a modern, more functional aesthetic.

Use of vertical subway tiles for both splashback and above the sink area create a modern, sleek feel and contribute to the light, airy feel of the new kitchen, together with the large, white new floor tiles. Whilst the beautiful Platinum Inspire Winter Sky cabinetry provides a delightful contrast.

Will was super impressed throughout the Kitchen Shack process after being referred by his friend who was impressed with the price and quality. The fact that the design and supply of cabinetry and benchtops was less than $14,000 was a wow factor. He couldn’t have been happier.
